I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana (#4814), who has been providing mental health counseling services to a variety of client types and age groups over the past 9 years. In 2010, I earned my Master of Arts degree in General Counseling and Guidance from Louisiana Tech University. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2008.

I have had the opportunity of working in a variety of counseling settings including Ware Youth Center’s juvenile detention facility and group home, where I provided counseling services to youth and worked as a member of the Child and Adolescent Crisis Response Team for Region 7. I have also worked in the schools providing counseling to at-risk students via the federal grant program Project G.O.A.L. I have provided counseling services to a vast clientele group including adults, families, couples, and children at The Center for Families counseling agency of Shreveport, which allowed me to write articles on mental health topics published in the Best of Times local magazine and appear on the local news to discuss the issue of cyber bullying. I have additionally gone in-home and to hospitals to provide clinical assessments such as the PASSAR, LOCUS, and CALOCUS in order to connect certain populations, including the severely mentally ill, to the proper resources at their disposal such as Assertive Community Treatment and Mental Health Rehabilitation in efforts of preventing re-hospitalization or out of home placement.

Though I have enjoyed working in all avenues of my profession, my true passion is providing advocacy and counseling services to families and individuals who are struggling or maybe just looking to make a positive change in their life. I believe therapy/counseling should be a safe place where you can vent, self-reflect, and sort things out without being or feeling judged. It is an opportunity to process information or circumstances with a non-biased, third party person to help guide you. I enjoy working with all populations of people including adults and geriatrics; however, I have mostly focused on working with children and adolescents. I have experience working with problems such as ADHD, behavioral issues in the classroom, divorce, grief, trauma/abuse, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience providing court-mandated counseling for Anger Management, Parenting, and Theft Deterrence. I have a special interest in working with individuals who struggle with Bi-Polar Disorder and their family members who may be affected. I use a variety of counseling styles and techniques including both play therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I currently provide counseling services at my private practice location in Minden and in the Claiborne Parish schools through the Student Assistance Program. I am looking forward to beginning services at the new Center for Counseling and Psychological Resources in Ruston where I am happy to be surrounded by an awesome team of people. Please feel free to contact the center to schedule an appointment.
